SUMMARY:CINPT\, 5th edition: Complex Trauma and Dissociative Disorders\, 2 -3 October 2019
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce that this fall we will organize the 5th edition of CiNPT – the International Psychotraumatology Conference. The theme of the event will be Complex Trauma and Dissociative Disorders. The conference will take place at Ramada Nord Hotel\, Diamond Hall\, on October 2 and October 3\, between 9 AM and 5 PM. \nNote: Early Bird tickets available until June 1\, 2019.  \nAs usual\, we have prepared 2 days filled with specialized information\, with lectures given by famous personalities in the field\, who are coming together for this event\, at the invitation of the ISTT: \n\nSuzette Boon\, PhD\, clinician psychologist\, psychotherapist\, co-founder and the first president of the European Society for Trauma and Dissociation\, with more than 30 years of experience in mental health.. Dr. Boon is a trainer and a supervisor for the Dutch Society for Family Therapy and a trainer for the Dutch Society of Hypnosis. She is specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of complex dissociative disorders\, she translated and validated the Dutch version of the Clinical Structure Interview for Dissociative Disorders (SCID-D) for DSM-IV\, and she has developed a clinical interview for evaluating mental disorders – Trauma and Dissociation Symptoms Interview (TADS-I). She has published several books\, sections of collaborative works\, and papers on dissociative disorders\, among which: Coping with Trauma-Related Dissociation: Skills Training for Patients and Therapists (2001) and Treatment of Dissociative Disorders (1998). In 2009\, Dr. Boon received the Lifetime Achievement Award\, and in 2011\, the Pierre Janet award for her book\, Coping with Trauma-Related Dissociation\, A Skills Training for Patients and their Therapists.\nAd de Jongh\, PhD\, clinician psychologist\, professor of Anxiety and Behavior Disorders at the University of Amsterdam. EMDR trainer\, director of the Psychotherapy and Psychotrauma Center in Bilthoven\, The Netherlands\, Dr. De Jongh is an expert in the treatment of anxiety disorders and complex trauma\, and is involved in research on the effectiveness of treatments based on proofs for a diverse pathology\, from traumatized children\, to individuals suffering from intellectual disorders\, to psychosis. Dr. de Jong has authored and co-authored a long list of articles\, books and book chapters of books in his area of expertise\, and is a member of the scientific committee for EMDR Europe and for the International Association of EMDR. Dr. de Jong is also a member of the scientific committee of the Internati onal Foundation of War Traumas.\nCarlijn de Roos\, PhD\, clinician psychologist\, psychotherapist at the Trauma and Family Trauma Center in The Netherlands\, EMDR trainer and president of the Dutch EMDR Association. Dr de Roos practices at the Trauma Center for Children and Teenagers in Leiden\, The Netherlands. She is specialized in the treatment of traumatized individuals and in somatoform disorders. She has conducted experimental research to investigate the efficiency of the EMDR and CBT therapies for traumatized patients\, and she has published articles on these topics. Often defined as a traumatic event\, trauma is actually an internal experience\, generated by a traumatic event. Trauma is the internal subjective experience of emotional breaking of the soul\, after a life situation that was overwhelming and could not be handled by our emotional resources. \nWhat are dissociative disorders? \nDissociative disorders are characterized by persistent and nonadaptive interruptions of the normal operation of our memory\, our conscience or our identity. Symptoms include dissociative amnesia\, detachment of self or of the environment or\, in extreme cases of dissociation\, the existence of 2 or multiple separate personalities within the same person. Individuals who suffer from dissociative disorders simply escape reality in various ways\, involuntarily\, which leads to serious problems with adaptation and the normal day-to-day functioning in the world. Dissociative disorders appear mostly as a result of trauma\, making the memories associated to traumatic events inaccessible to the mind. \n”We need to speak about trauma because it is happening\, it is a fact and\, as we all know\, ignoring facts cannot be good for us.
